Quick answer
- What it is: a rare chest reward added on November 1, 2026 with update v43.00 (the Treasure Hunters mini-season).
- What it does: after you press Activate, every item sold for V-Bucks in the Item Shop can be claimed free for 14 days. What you claim is yours to keep.
- How many uses: one drop gives you two activations — one for 2026 and one for 2027.
- Deadline: activate the 2026 use by December 15, 7 PM ET (00:00 UTC on December 16).
- Best day to activate: around November 5 at 7 PM ET, so your 14 days cover every collab drop up to November 14.
What is the Fortnite Pirate Shop Token?
Treasure Hunters is the pirate-themed mini-season that bridges Chapter 7 and Chapter 8, with One Piece crossover skins in the shop. Alongside the usual loot, Epic hid a very rare prize in chests: Pirate Shop Access. When it drops, you see a gold burst and a "YOU FOUND PIRATE SHOP ACCESS" banner, and the reward is waiting for you in the lobby.
Many players simply call it the free Item Shop token, because that is what it does. The Fortnite Pirate Shop Token does not give you V-Bucks. Instead it turns the Item Shop into a free shop for a limited time. While your window is open, the purchase button on V-Bucks items is replaced by a claim button. Players who found one in the first days describe claiming dozens of outfits, emotes and pickaxes, and the items stay in their locker after the window ends.
How to get the Fortnite Pirate Shop Token
Getting the token is pure luck — there is no quest, challenge or purchase that guarantees it. Here is what is known so far:
- Play Battle Royale during Treasure Hunters. Reports say the token can be found from November 1 until about December 5, 2026, when the next major update is due.
- Open as many chests as you can. Beebom and Destructoid say the token comes from the new Treasure Hunt Chests on Crossbones Isle, which sit inside buildings at named locations. HYPEX and Game Rant say any Battle Royale chest can roll it. Either way, more chests means more chances.
- Watch for the gold burst. A winning chest explodes in gold and the Pirate Shop Access banner appears on screen.
- Play in a squad. When one player finds it, the rest of the party or squad is reported to get access too, so four friends opening chests share every lucky roll.
Epic has not published the odds. Dataminer HYPEX found the token in the prize pool every week, but being in the pool does not mean one is guaranteed each week. One early winner said it took about 150 chests; others have opened more than 100 with nothing. Treat any exact drop rate you see online as a guess.
How to activate the Pirate Shop
Finding the Fortnite Pirate Shop Token does not start the timer. The 14 days only begin when you choose to activate, so there is no rush:
- Return to the lobby and open the reward screen.
- Go to the Shop tab.
- Select Plunder the Item Shop in the bottom-right corner.
- Read the "Start Your Plundering" screen and press Activate Now.
- For the next 14 days, open the Item Shop and claim the items you want. Check back daily, because the shop rotates.
When should you activate it?
Because the window is only 14 days, timing decides which skins you can claim. The planner at the top of this page shows which shop drops fall inside your window. Here is the published schedule it uses:
| Date (ET) | Item Shop drop |
|---|---|
| November 1 | Luffy, Nami, Usopp (launch) |
| November 5, 7 PM | A$AP Rocky |
| November 7 | Zoro, Sanji, Chopper Sidekick |
| November 12 | Lil Uzi Vert |
| November 13 | Buggy |
| November 14 | Kasane Teto, Cap'n Hatsune Miku |
| About December 3 | One Piece Bundle reportedly leaves |
If you already have the Fortnite Pirate Shop Token, activating around November 5 at 7 PM ET gives you a window that runs to November 19 and covers every dated drop. The launch One Piece skins stay in the shop for weeks, so starting earlier only shortens your window.
If you would rather wait, the Chapter 7 finale and the next big update are scheduled for December 5 and may bring new shop items that Epic has not announced yet. A start date after December 1 still leaves room before the December 15 deadline, but you would miss the One Piece Bundle if it leaves on December 3 as reported.
If you find it late, activate your Fortnite Pirate Shop Token as soon as you can after the next shop reset (00:00 UTC, which is 7 PM ET the evening before). Leave a day of margin around the deadline — time zones have already caused confusion, with some sites printing December 15 and others December 16 for the same moment.
What you can and cannot claim
| Can claim for free | Cannot claim |
|---|---|
| Outfits sold for V-Bucks | Real-money offers and V-Bucks packs |
| Emotes, pickaxes, gliders, wraps and back blings | Battle Pass levels and Battle Pass rewards |
| Jam Tracks sold for V-Bucks | Gifts for friends |
| One Sidekick you do not already own (per Epic's text) | Transferring the token to another account |
Reports differ on Sidekicks: some winners say they could claim one of each, while Epic's in-game text mentions one free Sidekick. If you want the Chopper Sidekick from the November 7 drop, save your Sidekick claim until then. A few players claim Music or LEGO passes also worked, but that contradicts Epic's wording and is unconfirmed.
Does the Pirate Shop Token work for your whole squad?
Yes — when a party member finds Pirate Shop Access, the others are reported to receive it too, and each player gets their own two activations. That makes squads the best way to hunt the Fortnite Pirate Shop Token. Some players say random teammates in fill matches also got it, but that has not been confirmed, so team up with friends if you can.
Each player activates their own window, so you and your friends can pick different dates depending on which skins you each want.
Fortnite Captain's Days schedule
Captain's Days are the other big feature of Treasure Hunters. On each one, Epic drops new weapons, Sprites and map changes into Battle Royale, and a new captain arrives with their own crew and location. More players means more chests opened, so these days are also a good time to hunt for the Fortnite Pirate Shop Token.
| Captain's Day | What we know |
|---|---|
| November 1 (9 AM ET) | Season launch: Crossbones Isle, the Straw Hats and A$AP Rocky |
| November 7 | New weapons and Sprites; Zoro, Sanji and the Chopper Sidekick reach the shop the same day |
| November 12 | New weapons and Sprites; Lil Uzi Vert reaches the shop |
| November 14 | Cap'n Hatsune Miku and Kasane Teto arrive, in the shop and on the island |
| November 21 | Final Captain's Day — Epic has not said which captain |
Epic has only given an exact start time for the first Captain's Day and has not listed which weapon or Sprite arrives on which day. Mastery Mondays (double Sprite XP and Sprite Dust) and Treasure Hours Sundays run every week of the mini-season, which ends with the Chapter 7 finale on December 5.
